Client: Dissenters
Year: 2018-2022

Dissenters was a passion project that allowed me to combine creativity with a message that matters. As the founder, I started this initiative to produce politically and ethically charged apparel and textiles, aiming to inspire thought and spark conversations around key social issues. From advocating for the fair treatment of refugees to promoting equal rights and environmental sustainability, Dissenters put art into action—art you could wear.

As the primary designer, I was responsible for creating 80% of the designs and personally hand screen-printing each piece in my studio in Wollongong, NSW. The focus on eco-friendly practices extended beyond the message, with each piece crafted using sustainable, ethical materials and printed with eco-conscious waterbased inks.

For me, Dissenters was more than just a creative project. It was a movement, a way to amplify important conversations through wearable art. It was incredible to see these messages reach people, not just on a canvas or a wall, but as something they could wear in their daily lives.

Looking back, I’m proud of how myself, and the other artists involved, built a creative collective that empowered others to express their values, quite literally, on their sleeves. Whether it was a t-shirt or a poster, Dissenters was about making impactful art accessible, and it’s a legacy I carry with me into future projects.
