MURALS at UOW

Client: University of Wollongong

Between 2016 and 2019, I had the pleasure of painting large-scale murals for the University of Wollongong during UOW Art Week. These murals, painted freehand with spray paint, can still be found on campus today. My canvas each year was a 2.4×4.8m aluminium board, set up in a beautiful bush area near the duck pond, surrounded by nature—a perfect setting for creativity.

One of the highlights of participating in this event was engaging with students, hearing their future aspirations, and being inspired by the campus itself, which provides a habitat for many bird species. Each year, I chose to paint birds, such as cheeky lorikeets, swan and the endangered black-throated finches, which were particularly relevant due to the headlines surrounding the Adani mine at the time.

Painting in such a serene environment, with the sounds of nature all around, made this one of my favourite annual projects.

Each mural was painted in 4-8hrs.
