I had the privilege of designing the artwork for The Occy – A Doco, a documentary about the history of Wollongong’s beloved Oxford Tavern. My hand-drawn illustration features local icon Dave Mutton, depicted in a suit riding a push bike and towing a trailer of musical gear, alongside playful rats—a cheeky nod to how developers referred to local musicians as “rats” when they sought to demolish the venue. This imagery reflects the grit, determination, and camaraderie of the local bands, capturing the fun we had and the sense of belonging that drew me to Wollongong’s vibrant music scene.

After finalising the sketch, I turned it into a digital illustration using Adobe Illustrator, adding colour, textures, and band logos in Photoshop. The final layout was compiled in Illustrator. Directed by Nathan Burling, the film includes insights from Dr. Rob Carr, who highlights the Oxford’s lasting impact as a cultural hub for musicians. This project allowed me to pay tribute to a venue that has been a spiritual home for many artists in our community.
